The Solpool project intend to support the solar heating system for public swimming pools. Could you explain us how the project was born?
The main intention of launching the SOLPOOL project was the fact that the heating of water in open door swimming pools is one of the most suitable applications for using solar energy. In open water swimming pools the heating of the water can be achieved by cheap unglazed absorbers as the increase of the water temperature of just a few degrees is needed.
How many advantages is it possible to obtain by using a solar heating system?
The most important advantages are: - Extension of the touristic season as a lot of outdoor swimming pools are located in the hotel or touristic village - Saving energy by using a very cost-efficient solar system - Appreciable environmental relief.
The result of Solpool project is the Impact Advisor. What is it and what advantages could offer?
The Impact Advisor is an easy handling Excel-based tool which offers the user the opportunity to perform a quick calculation of the most important parameters: necessary solar area, energy saving amount, investment costs and payback period.
In order to promote the solar heating system in swimming pools, after the conclusion of Solpool project, do you foresee new initiatives?
The DGS will continue in promoting this application wherever owners or operators ask for consulting or support or information materials. New initiatives are not foreseen so far as it is not possible to receive a cofinancing for a follow up project.
